Zerox by LordObliviontheGreat Zerox by LordObliviontheGreat
A alien/cyclops/pony/dog/machine thing. It was a little side project I did yesterday, using my parts from a recent Bricklink order.

I just love the colors (and the blue hau <3), so I just had to use them.

Looks like a car thing, because of the black disks.

Awesome, reminds me of a Leaper from Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. Well done on the build.

Love it LO! Great colour scheme, lovely texture consistency. I can't help thinking that the lime HF core is a bit tacked-on, but then again there's nothing else you could put there.

Those hooves are really cool. Do you think you could show us how you did that? Maybe show the underside? I'm wondering how the round disk things are held on. I really dig that color scheme. Isn't that what the new surge has, blue, lime and black?

Glad you like the hooves, it's where I started with the MOC actually. The 4x4 disks have a 1/2 pin, 1/2 axle hole. So it can be connected to either one =)

I think so, I don't get sets anymore so I wouldn't know. Bricklink is oh so much better <3

Thanks LO. :)

Yeah, I remember now. I was like "wut where do the disks connect, oh right they can connect via an axle." Hmmmm how stable is this design? it uses a lot of ball joints, and I'm not exactly swimming in them. Guess I'll have to go bricklink shopping when I can.

Oh I know, its so cheap to get parts you actually need, not end up with a bunch you don't and a few you do. But I have problems finding everything I need from one store so I'm not paying a bunch of shipping.

The design is very stable actually! The only problem might be the disks now and then, sometimes they fall off. But for the most part, it's solid.

Yeah, exactly. I just add parts I want to my wanted list, and then check the stores that have all the parts. I then browse in the stores to see if they have other nice pieces.

Ah, yeah. Those disks don't grip the axels all that well do they? Hmmm I'd figure the HF armor slips off the T joint. Cause isn't that what's holding on the majority of the hoof?

You know, that happened to me last time. I needed flame pieces for Matteo's Lantern, so I went to a store that had them with no minimum buy, then ended up buying a bunch of other small system parts. Like most of the gems on matteo's goodies, the minifig sword that makes Matteo's knife on his belt. and all the gold studs you see on him. I got like 30 of those. I guess I should just do that when I can spend like $50 or more on an order. :D

Yeah they hold on well, until something touched it, then it's like a 50/50 chance of it falling off. Well, at least for me, the HF armor stays on the T-bar pretty well. The disks prohibit it from moving off to the sides.

Haha, yes it generally helps. When I order stuff I mainly focus on stuff for what I can re-use. And generally those small system bits prove to be really helpful.

Oh I see. But then the foot could knock the disks off huh? I'm really picky about the integrity of my MOCs. if something falls off to easily for me I don't go for that design. I want sturdy stable MOCs, so that sometimes kills the aesthetics. I don't quite go for looks with my MOCs. I like functionality and articulation above aesthetics.

Yeah. Well I'm a build and keep it together MOCer. Once I've got something I really like, its not coming down. If I build something for a contest or as a request, those get scrapped but things I chose to make end up staying together. The list of MOCs in my gallery that have been dismantled is a lot shorter than the one's that Have been kept. So When I buy parts, I plan for them to go on a MOC and never be used again.

Trust me, it shouldn't go falling apart =P Just try not to move the HF armor inside them too much, that seemed to be the only reason it fell for me. Funny, I'm kinda the opposite of that xD Aesthetics are generally more important in my MOCing, lol. Although I do want to have at least some form of articulation, or even better, both aesthetics and articulation. But that rarely happens :(

I see, then my way of buying parts from Brickling might not be the best of ideas for you :P

The torso looks like he's made of a whole lot of small technic parts from this angle :o
Also nice combination of bionicle, technic and HF parts you got there.

Well there are boat studs on the arms, which are used to let the joints move (on the forelimbs). A piece (which name I don't recall) is used to hold the HF torso armor onto the torso, and I do not remember if there are any more bits that are important =P
